AAPI Heritage Month is a time to honor the rich tapestry of Asian American and Pacific Islander cultures. Schools can be a powerful platform for celebration and learning. Here are a few ideas:
Embrace Diversity: Highlight the vastness of the AAPI community. Plan activities that showcase the unique traditions, languages, and histories of various Asian and Pacific Islander groups.
Spark Curiosity: Feature books by AAPI authors or incorporate folktales from different regions into the curriculum. Organize movie nights featuring AAPI films or invite guest speakers to share their cultural experiences.
Create a Safe Space: Discuss the importance of cultural sensitivity and bystander intervention. Encourage open dialogue about the challenges faced by AAPI communities, including recent incidents of racism.

LMS Choir concert has had a date change: the concert will be on June 4th at 7pm in the high school auditorium.
LMS Band Concert is May 16th at 7pm at the LHS Auditorium. Students in band should arrive at 6:15pm. We hope to see you there!
Reminder: Tomorrow, 5/15, is the first day of outdoor school for 6th grade. Please have your student to school no later than 9:20, if students are late or miss the bus they will need to go home for the day. Thursday and Friday please have your student to school no later than 8:20. Busses will bring students back to school around 5:45pm each day. Students will need to be picked up from LMS at that time. Be sure your 6th grader has all of their supplies with them tomorrow, especially a water bottle!
The next middle school PTO meeting is tomorrow, 5/15/24, at 5:15pm in the LMS commons. We hope to see you there!
